so disappointed
well friends, I hate to say it, but I'm disappointed with the comedic element of the media. Not because their jokes are generally low-brow and recylced, rather, I'm disappointed that they didn't jump on the code name of the most recent major coallition offensive in Afghanistan. I too am getting to this a little late, but I've lost my easy access to the internet, so I have to ask you to deal with my tardiness. ANYways, getting back to the military's penetration into enemy territory. It is called, as I'm sure you may have heard, "operation mountain thrust." Appropriate since the military is making a calculated strike into the mountainous back country of Afghanistan. Inappropriate and insanely funny because you can abbreviate the attack thusly: operation mount'n thrust... or to clarify things for those whose brains reside outside of the sewer: operation MOUNT AND THRUST. I understand that much of the military's intention for being in Afghanistan is to screw over the taliban, but never, NOT EVER, have their intentions been so clearly outlined by the name of their operations. Consider: desert storm (blow sand over stuff); desert shield (place a large sheet of reinforced metal over the desert, or use the desert to deflect sword attacks); desert fox (run around with large ears and a fluffy tail eating rodents). So, I guess what I'm getting at is I'd like to applaud the coallition forces for calling a spade a spade (or in this case an incursion with their members into the uncharted, ill-understood netherregions of Afghanistan operation mountain thrust) and I'd like to stick my tongue out at those humour commentators that seem to have repressed their inner 15 year olds for the sake of respecting the infallability of the military... or something like that.
